How to set up DeHaardt Shutdown and Range extender

DeHaardt Shutdown

Follow these steps to set up a DeHaardt Shutdown and / or Range extender:

  1. Open Timing
  2. Click on the menu icon - system - devices
  3. Double click on the Timing computer name
  4. Click on Peripherics
  5. Click on the + button to add a device
  6. Search for Kart shutdown - DeHaardt - Shutdown and add it
  7. All default settings are fine, you just have to enter the serial number from the box
  8. When you have electric karts, don't forget to turn the setting on

You can connect the box to the computer using a serial cable or you can use a USB2COM connector. Don't forget to install the driver for the USB2COM connecter if needed. The DeHaardt doesn't need a special driver.

Range extender

You can also add range extenders to extend the signal. These range extenders just need to be plugged into the power.

To configure the range extenders in the software, again you add them as a device on the timing computer.

  1. Search for Range extender - DeHaardt - Dehaardt Xtra Range Extender
  2. All default settings are fine, you just have to enter the serial number from the box
  3. When you have electric karts, don't forget to turn the setting on

Troubleshooting

Normally everything should work without installing anything extra.
In case the karts do not respond, there are a few things you can check.

  1. Correct serial number filled in into the configurator?
  2. Shutdown transponders connected on the karts?
  3. Shutdown transponders configured into the configurator?
  4. You can enable logging on the DeHaardt Shutdown device in the configurator, when you enable this and you click test on the device, in the log file of the timing computer you should see a ping log and pong response from the DeHaardt Shutdown. When you only see the ping, it means the box is not responding.
